Lapis was born into an Ishgardian noble family and was the youngest of three siblings. She was very close to her mother who tragically passed away from a long line of health issues. The whole family had changed after the passing of Mrs. Collbrande. Her father became far more closed off and and cold. Being distant to his servants and his children. Her older brother was good for nothing and was often looked down on. Her eldest sister was named the heir to the family, thus beginning her sisters training to take over the family household. This lead to an even further disconnect between her and her father, as she saw even less of him as he was off training and tutoring her older sister. This would cause Lapis to become a wild child. Often sneaking out and getting involved with the lower class rabble that would later become her closest friends. Her rebellious disregard for her father's authority would continue to give them a rocky relationship for many years to come.
Becoming a Paladin
Her father had enough of her rebellious outbursts and decided it would be best if she were to learn discipline. He would use his position in the Ishgardian military to have her enlisted into military training at 16. She trained for two years before being tossed right to the frontlines, despite her father's attempts at having her returned home. Here she fought against Isgardian heretics and manning anti-dragon artillery. It was during this time that Lapis caught the eye of a Free Paladin. After getting to know Lapis, he saw the kindness inside her, and her want to protect those weaker than her while bringing the wicked to justice, this would bring him to teach and hone Lapis's Warfare skills. During one of her last skirmishes before the Dragonsong war ended, a Dragon laid siege to their forte. During the battle, many knights fell, her Paladin teacher being one of them. In his dying breath, he handed his Paladin Stone to Lapis, believing she would make a great Paladin. The Stone resonated with Lapis, accepting her as it's master. With her new found abelites she would due battle with the Dragon and would come out on top, narrowing escaping this encounter with her life. This occurrence would forever change her. She would make an oath to herself. An oath she would carry with her on the same wayward winds that would guide her as she left home as a newly born Free Paladin.
Oath
Lapis carries an Oath with her that acts as her guidelines.-Dispense justice to the wicked, and let thy judgment be fair according to the severity of the wrong doings of the punished.-Protect the weak from the wickedness of the world. Should the innocent come to harm, thou must be their shield and their sword.-Show compassion even to those who would do thee wrong.-Spare the defenseless and surrendered.
